Search teams the world over marvel at how well TNSAR tolerates a peaceful and mostly democratic transition of power, especially given that free beer is always present and readily available. On May 6th 2019 Devin Hiemstra, after a few years at the helm and a few more in the executive trenches, realized that ex-presidents heckling from the back of the room seemed to be having a lot of fun. So now Devin is one (voluntarily), too.

In his stead steps Scott Meyer who, when he's not searching (on ski, sled, or snowcat) or coordinating a search or managing the construction of the TNSAR garage extension you just might find him in some far off land creating hookah influenced plans for other adventures with his copious amounts of free time.

Supporting Scott will be Vice-President Matt Jacobs and Secretary Joanna Wright, both returning for another year of unselfish support for the team.

Rounding out the elections are 2 new Directors, Calvin Mitchell & Sarah Krammen (Andrew O and Brad A are finishing the first of their 2 year Director commitment). We lost 2 Directors, as Scott was demoted to President and Geoff Quine, after a number of years serving the team well on the Board, has opted to step aside and let other folks share their skills and experiences.

Congratulations to Scott, Matt, Sarah, Calvin and Sarah. Also, a big thanks to Devin and Geoff for a job well done; you two can pry the hookah from Scott's hands and enjoy your retirement.

Question: what do Yo-Yo Ma and Vladimir Putin have in common? They both share a birthday, Monday Oct 7th, which is coincidentally (or not) when the first meeting of the 2019-2020 TNSAR season shall commence at 6:30PM (chow time) at the Granlibakken ski hut, whilst the what-happened-to-summer? meeting starts at 7PM. Bring your cello and vodka.

Note that all the trainings, search reports, and newsletter from any particular season (past or present) are under the "Archives" menu drop down at the top of any page.

TNSAR has a wealth of pictures, taken mostly from trainings. If any pictures were taken on a training, you will find them under the annual training archives (see the drop down menu at the top) for that particular training (note that Internet Explorer does not [yet] display these pictures; yet another reason to try a web browser other than IE). Additionally, you can also look at all the organized pictures on one page.

TNSAR is always looking for fresh faces and new enthusiasm. We are a team of broad roles, interests and needs, to include but not limited to:

  • Searchers (skiers and sledders)
  • Comm Van personnel
  • Truck caretakers
  • Administrative
  • Public Relations
  • Grant and Donation management
  • WWW management
  • TGSR (the list here is endless)

If you are interested in any of these types of roles, or generally interested in TNSAR, please show up at the next general meeting to get your questions answered. The majority of the team representatives are not searchers; we have a variety of needs and seats for all. Come check us out!
