5 snowshoers at Pole Creek Bridge

Submitted by Dirk Schoonmaker

In the middle of a 4 foot storm, 5 snowshoers were coming back from the Bradley Hut. It took them 8 hours to get downhill to the Pole Creek bridge, when they decided they couldn't make it and called for help.

TNSAR responded with the snowcat and 3 skiers, with several snomobilers standing by to assist if necessary. Scott Meyer, Natalie and Adam staffed the truck and helped dig out cars at the end.

The snowcat labored through DEEP snow but performed admirably under the guiding hands of Sarah and Jimmy- the trough it plowed getting up the road was 3' deep. The victims were where they said they would be, at the Pole Creek Bridge and were transported out without incident (other than one case of vomiting) to the trailhead.
