Goose Chase in Squaw Valley Meadow

At 10:30 pm TNSAR was paged out for a possible injured person in the meadow at Squaw Valley. People at The Resort at Squaw Creek had heard someone yelling out in the meadow but were unable to understand what they were saying and then subsequently had heard coyotes howling. The people who heard the yelling had snowshoed out into the meadow but found nothing. PCSO decided TNSAR should investigate. 7 skiers and 2 snowmobilers responded.

With 18 inches of new snow on top of 18 inches of day old snow the skiers set out from the Resort at Squaw Creek across the meadow in a widespread grid and searched until about 1:30 am at which time, with nothing discovered and nobody reported missing, the search was called off.
