Come hike a reverse mountain (1st half descent, then climb out) with the "peak" being the North Fork of the American River (downstream from The Cedars). It will be a full day of around 14 miles, focusing on navigation and terrain familiarization.

6th annual California Avalanche Workshop. This is a preseason knowledge sharing gathering of the backcountry snow traveling tribe and an opportunity to analyze accidents, learn from pros, and network. 9am-5pm. Combination of classroom, field work, and scenario based training on high angle rescue skills and methods. Come prepared to spend most of the day outside. NOVEMBER 25 (Mon) -- TEAM TRUCK & NIGHTTIME GPS

We’ll pull gear off the truck and make sure it all still works. The emphasis will be learning how to work with a GPS to navigate to a contrived scenario where you can brush up on your first aid, packaging and/or avi skills. Bring a typical search pack, headlamp and boots as part of the training will take place in the field.
